Gentrification is the change that is happening in the Harlem community.

Harlem is gentrifying due to rich people buying the land and trying to transform it into taller buildings.

The theory that best explains why Harlem is gentrifying is because people with money want Harlem to be able to be a more modern place with more buildings and bigger business to also make it more attractive.

4. What are the indicators and evidence of Harlem gentrifying?

The indicators and evidence of Harlem’s gentrifying is that we can see how a lot of people are fighting for Harlem to not change and stay the same. In addition how a lot of the people buying the place are causing people who have been there for years to not have a job. Furthermore, it’s changing in the way that there is a new race in the community and trying to change the history of Harlem’s past.

5. What is the impact of gentrification in Harlem? What effect positively and negatively is gentrification having on Harlem?

The impact of the gentrification in Harlem is that it causes negatives and positives for both the new and old people that have been or are coming into the community. The positives are that they get to Harlem, get to be modern and the people there get to experience Harlem in a whole different way. The negatives do outway the pictures because it leads to people losing jobs, forgetting what Harlem was and is all about and leads to division between the new races coming in economically.
